Beauty in Bloom, Chagford
About the Project
Beauty Salon Expansion
The Brief
Bloom was already a much-loved and established hair salon in Chagford. When the opportunity came up to take over the space above, owner Libby saw the perfect chance to expand into beauty. She wanted the new space to feel connected to the existing salon, sharing its brand and character, but with a softer, more serene tone suited to beauty treatments. Alongside that, the space needed to be highly practical, with treatment rooms that made the most of the quirky eaves.
The Design Process
We started by pinning down the overall concept: a pared-back version of Bloom’s established style. The palette and finishes were influenced by the salon branding but softened for a calmer feel.
I worked closely with Libby on the layout, which was particularly important in the attic-like space. Careful planning meant every corner was used well without compromising comfort. Once we had the flow right, I sourced key furnishings, fittings, and finishes - always balancing aesthetics with durability and function.
3D visuals helped us bring the design to life early, making it much easier to sense how the rooms would feel and to test ideas against the sloped ceilings and eaves. This collaborative stage gave Libby full confidence before committing to the final design.
The Result
The finished Beauty in Bloom is welcoming, calm, and practical, a space that not only reflects the existing salon’s personality but also offers its own distinct atmosphere. Treatment rooms now feel both intimate and professional, giving clients a relaxing experience from the moment they step upstairs.
